If you are on a Windows 10 PC, and your FileMaker shortcuts still have the old purple folder icons, please try the following:
- Right-click on one of the new FileMaker shortcuts, phonemgr for example.
- Select “Open With”, and then select “Choose another app”. Check the box for “Always use this app to open .fmp12 files”.
- If the blue FileMaker Pro Advanced icon appears, select that, then click OK. FileMaker 17 should open, and you’re all set.
- If the blue FileMaker Pro Advanced icon does not appear, click on “More apps”.
- If the blue FileMaker Pro Advanced icon appears here, select it, then click OK. FileMaker 17 should open, and you’re all set.
- If it does not, scroll down and select “Look for another app on this PC”. Navigate to the FileMaker folder (in C:\Program Files\ ), then the FileMaker 17 Advanced folder. Select the FileMaker Pro Advanced application file, and click “Open”. FileMaker 17 should open, and you’re all set.
- If you successfully followed the steps above, your icons should now show as a light blue folder.
If you could not find or select FileMaker 17 in any of the options above, you most like do not have FileMaker 17 installed. Please submit a ticket with the subject "FileMaker 17 PC Install Help".
If you could select FileMaker 17 above, but could still not successfully open your shortcut(s), please submit a ticket with the subject “FileMaker 17 Shortcut Help”.
If you are on a Windows 7 PC, and your FileMaker shortcuts still have the old purple folder icons, please try the following:
- Right-click on one of the new FileMaker shortcuts, phonemgr for example.
- Select “Open With”, and then select Browse. Navigate to the FileMaker folder (in C:\Program Files\ ), then the FileMaker 17 Advanced folder. Select the FileMaker Pro Advanced application file, and click “Open”.
- Check the box for “Always use this app to open this kind of file", then click OK.
- FileMaker 17 should open, and you’re all set.
